The Anambra State Government has ordered closure of private and public motorparks in the state .

This followed the announcement of one index case of COVID-19 in the state on Friday by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.

In a public service announcement by the commissioner for transport in the state, Christian Madubuko, anybody who would disobey the order would "incur the wrath of government."

The statement read in part," The ministry of transport wishes to inform all owners and managers of public and private parks in Anambra State that all parks are hereby closed.

This is to ensure the containment and spread of coronavirus (COVID-19) in the state.

"Please, all concerned must adhere to this directive with immediate effect. Any one who goes contrary to this directive will incur the wrath of government."

Meanwhile there is tension in the state over the announcement of one index case of the pandemic in state.

The index case it was gathered was in Adazi Nnukwu in the Anaocha Local Government in the state.

It was gathered that the patient came into the state from Lagos.

Reacting, a respondent said" Exactly we are not safe, nothing like inter state lock down between Delta and Anambra and between Enugu, Imo and Anambra.

"The security agents and those concerned at Bridgehead, Onitsha, are interested in their pockets both Anambra side and Delta side.

"All buses from Lagos and from Onitsha move freely into the states without any check Above all, government should provide testing kits at the both end of the bridge.

Another responded said," A barber at Amawbia told me last night that a mutual friend of ours, a Togolese, who fixes floor tiles, just came into Amawbia from Togo after he traveled out of Nigeria last two months.

"The Togolese said that they traveled through the night giving bribe at every security checkpoint from Togo to Lagos and then from Lagos to Anambra".
