Adeleke Tasks Osun Residents On Peaceful Poll

The Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has called on the people of the state to mobilize and troop out peacefully to elect leaders of their choice in Saturday’s general elections.

In a pre-election statement he signed, Governor Adeleke described Saturday’s election as “a critical milestone in national democratic development of Nigeria in which all eligible citizens must actively participate to decide the future of the nation.”

“My good people of Osun State, the general election is here, and we have a patriotic duty to actively join the electioneering process. Your vote is your power and your ticket to securing good governance for yourselves and our future generation.

Gunmen Attack Segun Gbayi Convoy

At least two people were injured on Thursday in an attack on the convoy of the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party for the House of Representatives, Lagos Mainland Constituency, Segun Gbayi.

The attack by the yet-to-be-identified gunmen happened in the Makoko area, Yaba, Lagos State.

The gunmen also attacked the security escorts attached to the convoy, opened fire and vandalised their vehicles.

However, Gbayi narrowly escaped the attack unhurt.

Reacting, Gbayi said the attack was to prevent members and supporters of the party from exercising their franchise in tomorrow’s election.

Elections: FG unveils committee on cyberattack prevention

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has unveiled a committee to coordinate the activities of computer security centres in the Information and Communication Technology industry to intercept potential cyberattacks during the 2023 general election.

The president who was represented by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, stated that the committee will advise the Federal Government on appropriate measures to take to protect the country’s cyberspace and ICT infrastructure from potential attacks, especially during the 2023 general election.

According to him, the committee will be led by the Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Prof. Adeolu Akande.

Obaseki plots using vigilantes for elections — Edo APC

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress on Thursday alleged that the state government was planning to use its Edo State Vigilante Network to intimidate opposition and manipulate Saturday’s elections.

The APC made the allegation in a statement by the its Publicity Secretary, Peter Uwadiae, on Thursday.

The party alleged that there was a secret move by Governor Godwin Obaseki to use the Edo State Vigilante Network to “intimidate, harass and cause mayhem during and after the elections, particularly in the rural areas of the state.”

Two Policemen Shot, As Anti-Thuggery Agents Allegedly Attack Convoy Of Lawal’s Wife

Two policemen have been shot and several other civilians injured after suspected members of the Zamfara State Anti-thuggery Operatives attacked the convoy of the wife of Zamfara PDP Governorship candidate, Hajiya Hurriyah Lawal.

The incident happened in the early hours of Friday, within the Gusau metropolis, when Mrs Lawal was returning to Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

Media aide to Mr Dauda Lawal, Imran Ahnad told Channels Television that two of her security personnel and other civilians were injured and are currently receiving treatment at a health facility in the state capital.
