I've heard very senior lawyers saying the election petition can be concluded before May 29- Adeleke Agbola

A senior advocate of Nigeria, Adeleke Agbola said that he has heard from very senior lawyers saying that the presidential election petition can be concluded before May 29.

Adeleke Agbola made the statement in an interview with Channels Television during the Politics Today program when he was asked to tell Nigerians what he thinks about the presidential election petition commencing tomorrow.

Adeleke Agbola began by saying that he heard his colleagues saying tomorrow will be 'a whole lot' but people should not be surprised that tomorrow may just be a preliminary. According to him election petition especially presidential election petition is a whole lot.

He pointed out that Supreme court have ruled year's ago that when someone alleged fraud in the election petition, it must be proven beyond reasonable doubt and evidence will be taken, which he claims is going to take time.

He then said

"I have listened to very senior lawyers saying this matter (election petition) can be concluded before May 29, which is just two weeks away. I can assure you that is not going to happen. The only way this matter can be concluded before May 29 is if the petitioners withdraw their petition and the matter is struck out of the court.
