Goodwill message to the Passing Out Of Batch B Stream 2 2019 Members Of The National Youths Service Corp (NYSC)
The Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Social Development Chief Dan Ogu , has in the spirit of oneness congratulated the " Batch B " Stream 2 2019 members of The National Youths Service Corp (NYSC) who successfully undertook the passing out ceremony at the end of their service year in Imo State.
In his goodwill message , Chief Dan Ogu commended former Head of State Rtd General Yakubu Gowon for initiating the scheme in 1973. He pointed out clearly that it is a unique programme designed to foster national cohesion and unity amongst Nigerians for sustainable coexistence.
It is a known fact that the National Youths Service scheme had in no small measure , ignited and nurtured a high sense of oneness as it continues to afford the youths the enviable opportunity to study and appreciate the ethno -- religious and socio -- cultural diversity of Nigeria .
The NYSC scheme over the years has raised responsible human resources for our nation, citizens with skills that has contributed immensely to the GDP of our nation Nigeria. Also inter tribal marriages have occurred uncountably since it inception. These inter tribal marriages have helped to enhance national unity and social tolerance.
The Honourable Commissioner for Youths and Social Development Chief Dan Ogu , regretted the daunting challenges that has bedevilled the well intentioned social integration initiative in recent times , it has gotten to the extent that most Corps members now have ample reasons to reject postings to states they regard as unsafe , on account of avoidable political cum religious intolerance that have seen the untimely death of Corp members posted to states other than their states of origin .
In this regard , Chief Dan Ogu commended His Excellency the Governor , Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma for providing the enabling environment in Imo State that made Corp members of " Batch B " 2019 experience a peaceful and result oriented service year .
He further stated that Governor Hope Uzodinma will not leave any stone unturned by ensuring that all Corpers serving in Imo State must be assured and consider the State as a safe haven during their service years . He also thanked the out gone Corpers for living in harmony with their host communities , even as he appealed to them to remain good ambassadors of Imo State where ever they find themselves in pursuit of their future endeavours.
He equally reassured the out gone members of NYSC that the gates of Imo State are well opened for any youth who wants to engage in any legitimate business ventures. The Honourable Commissioner, reminded them that Imolites are friendly, hardworking, accommodating, peaceful, resourceful, cultured and God fearing. He further stated that Imo State is blessed with fertile soil, friendly weather, rich cultural heritage and best security network.
The Ministry of Youths & Social Development in collaboration with other MDAs and interventionist bodies , he maintained , will not relent in putting in place Youth friendly policy initiatives that will galvanize Imo Youths to identify and actualize their potentials .
Chief Dan Ogu by extension appealed to Imo Youths to key into Governor Hope Uzodinma 's 3Rs Agenda of Recovery , Rehabilitation and Reconstruction for a greater Imo State , as he admonished them to observe all safety protocols on Covid -- 19 pandemic. He advised Imo youths to utilized the services of his ministry in areas of counselling and other aspects that might be useful for their economic and social well been.
Above all he wished, the 2019 batch B members of NYSC well in all their future endeavours and admonished them to shun crime and cutting corners for wealth through illegitimate activities that will be a threat to their future and the nation at large.
