According to him, the previous administration led by President Good luck Jonathan was not confronted with the issue of banditry or kidnapping. Instead, the major threat was the North-east insurgency.

However, the current administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari is facing a different set of challenges. Shehu noted that the most challenging area that the Buhari administration is going to leave behind is that of banditry and kidnapping in the North-west and North-central regions of the country. This has been a major security concern recently, with attacks by armed bandits and kidnappers on communities, schools, and even military institutions.
