The fight against the novel coronavirus is soon becoming an individual fight in Nigeria, the government no longer owe you the responsibility of keeping you safe than you owe yourself, the virus is real and is still killing people all over the globe, since the Nigerian government lift the ban on inter-state travels and lockdown many Nigerians have been giving a nonchalant attitude towards adhering to the measure put in place to stem the spread of the virus by WHO and NCDC.
Some months ago, President Muhammadu Buhari announced the lift on ban of interstate travels and the relaxation of lockdown in the country and also gave autonomy to all state governors to be in charge of regulating the spread of the coronavirus in their various states. Since then many states relaxed their lockdown while others are still on it.
Plateau State is one of the 36 states in the country that also relaxed it lock down with strict warning to all the citizens of the state to adhere to government directives of compulsory use of nose mask, regular washing of hands and maintaining adequate social distancing. The state governor who pronounced severe punishment for anyone who is found violating any of these laid down rules is still doing his best to ensure that is put is place.
However, despite government efforts it is sad to say that many people are not adhering to the laid down rules instead flaunting the order of compulsory use of nose mask and maintaining adequate social distancing. This singular act has led to the increase in total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the state, Plateau state now records at least 19 cases daily.
According to the daily report of NCDC of number of confirmed cases recorded in the country on a daily basis, the Country has recorded 653 confirmed cases of the virus in 28 states with plateau state having 17. Below is the list of states and the number of recorded cases.
