South African President has Described the Violence in the Country as an Assault to Democracy

Following the arrest of the Former President of South Africa, Jacob Zuma, riots and chaos were by the citizens of the country. The incident has lead to the death of over 200 people. Many were left homeless during the riots. The protest began after the Former President handed himself to the police to face the law.

However, President Cyril Ramaphosa said the riots were an attempt to hijack South Africa democracy. He also said forces are going after the looters. Some people planned and coordinated the looting and unrest incident, he added. He made the statement at his visit to one of the affected areas.

The President has also deployed some Army to secure and protect flashpoints to ensure the safety of the citizens. Feeding has been another issue as citizens demand food. Due to the looting, food has been scarce and, many are hungry.
