The Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has accused the former Acting Executive Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Joy Nunieh, of not possessing the certificate of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Akpabio made this accusation on Monday during the public hearing of the House of Representatives on the alleged mismanagement of the NDDC.
In his testimony before the panel, Akpabio claimed that Ms. Nunieh was not participating in the one-year mandatory service of the NYSC and that she did not have a letter of exemption.
He also revealed that the late Chief of Staff of President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, had asked him to dismiss the former head of NDDC after an investigation revealed that she did not have the necessary qualifications to lead the commission.
Akpabio added that Nunieh was dismissed for, inter alia, insubordination. He added that the Commission had over 300 bank accounts when he was appointed by President Buhari.
She said: "The former NDDC executive director was relieved of her appointment when I received a letter from the then Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari (may his soul rest in peace) saying that she did not have the necessary qualifications to be there.
"For example, twice we wrote to the National Youth Service Corps, and twice they insisted that she had never served and that she did not have a certificate or exemption from the NYSC.
