2 Reasons Nigerians Should Commend Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje For Handing Over Power to a Girl For 20min

Today marks a unique day all over the world as many nations celebrates the girl child. Different activities happened in different parts of Nigeria to celebrate this day, but among all, the act of a Nigerian governor has really caused a lot of reactions online.

According to reports, The governor of Kano state, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, handed over power to a little girl for about 20 minutes. Below is a picture showing the girl who governed the state for 20 minutes:

This girl has been identified by the name Atika Abubakar Yankaba, and she is just 14 years old.

In my opinion, I think this act of Governor Abdullahi Ganduje should be commended by all Nigerians. Here are my reasons for saying this:

It places value on the girl child: We all know that some Nigerians don't place value on a girl child. In some rural areas, the moment a man has no male child, they will say he has no one to represent him, even if he has 10 female children because the female child will one day get married and will no longer bear her father's name. But the act of this governor will indeed change the mindset of people. This act will indeed place value on the female child. Indeed, the girl child is capable of leading.

It will encourage Nigerian females to sit up: This act will indeed boast and encourage females in Nigeria to sit up. It shows that they are valued and have a role to play, leading the nation to a better place. Furthermore, it will teach the female not to just have a vision of being a housewife alone, but also being leaders of tomorrow.

As a reader, what do you have to say about this? Do you think a female president or governor will do better?
