Following the high level of insecurity currently being witnessed in Nigeria, president Muhammadu Buhari has continued to seek solutions on how best he can bring an end to the problem of insecurity in Nigeria. Some few moments ago, president Buhari made a statement regarding his latest discussion with his newly appointed Service Chiefs. According to president Buhari, during a meeting with his Service Chiefs at the state house, Abuja, he charged them to remember that the entire country is looking up to them to come up with lasting solution which will put an end to insecurity in the country.
President Muhammadu Buhari also urged his Service Chiefs to identify competent officers who has what it takes to work vwith them to secure the country. President Muhammadu Buhari also charged his Service Chiefs to put aside seniority and paper qualifications while selecting capable officers to work with. President Muhammadu Buhari also assured his newly appointed Service Chiefs that he is giving them his full support as the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces.
Shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari made this statement, thousands of Nigerians stormed his official social media account to comment on his statement. One of the persons who commented on the statement made by Buhari was of the opinion that motorcycles is one of the major problem which increases insecurity in Nigeria. According to the twitter user identified as Usman, since a ban was placed on motorcycles in some parts of North East, crime rate significantly decreased. He urged the president to ban motorcycles throughout Nigeria.
Some Nigerians who commented on Buhari's statement were of the opinion that the Nigerian military lacks the necessary equipment needed to fight insurgency and kidnapping. He urged the president to provide the needed equipment to the military if he wants to see real security. The twitter user who is identified as Mahmoud Lawal was of the opinion that the president hasn't done enough in the area of provision of adequate arsenal to the Nigerian military and other security agencies.
