Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, paid a visit to Joy Nunieh, the former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission. The aim of his visit was to rescue her from the police officers who were ordered to prevent her from leaving her house early this morning.
Governor Wike forcefully entered the house with his convey and made the police officers leave the premises.
Nigerians have shown their concern and have shared their opinion via Twitter.
Here are some reactions:
@RealTimiFrank "I commend Gov. Wike for his bravery in rescuing Joi Nunieh from illegal arrest; he has proven that he's a Governor-General. Despite Party affiliation, he has shown that all Rivers Citizens are one. We wish @MBuhari can fight for Nigerians the way Wike has done for Rivers Citizens".
@Manlike_ED "They couldn't invite Joi Nunieh to the police station, CP said he is not aware of what's happening.
So who are the armed men at Joi Nunieh's home?
Where would she have been now if not for Wike?."
@Kingslchbk " I hear what type of society are you? You can't invite her to the station? We did but she refuse, Are you talking back at me? Oyah all of you out!!! Leave this place??? WIKE MORALE excess oh!"
@jimmy2time " I'm not a fan of @GovWike, like most of the lots that call themselves politicians/elected officials, they know zilch about governance but give it to the man, he understands executive power & knows how to wield it. Kudos to the man. He did it for judges, now he's doing it again."
