The militants are also targeting politicians who are against their secessionist agitation. Some prominent politicians, mostly from the All Progressives Congress, have suffered in the hands of the rampaging gunmen.

1. Governor Hope Uzodinma
In April 2021, unknown gunmen set ablaze the residence of Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, at his hometown in Omuma, Oru East local government area of Imo state. The attack was suspected to have been carried out by IPOB militants. A security guard was also killed during the attack.
Governor Uzodinma is against IPOB and its illegal activities in the South East region.
