2 Things Senator Liyel Imoke Said About The 2023 Elections In C'River That Are Not True

Tension is still growing in Cross River State over what will be the outcome of the 2023 general elections. Former governor Liyel Imoke made some statements during the Peoples Democratic Party (APC) congress. For me, I think there are two things out of the many things he said that are not true.

1. Senator Liyel Imoke mentioned that no other party has won elections aside from the PDP since 1999, hence they will take the day by 2023. I don't think that statement is true at this time. It was like that because PDP had always been the ruling party. Things have changed now. If we are talking about the Cross River State peculiarity, it has been the party in power that has always won the day.

So many stakeholders in the PDP that are grassroots mobilizers left the party for the All Progressives Congress (APC). Aside from the fact that the party is not united, 95% of the entire winning machinery dwells within the APC.

2. Imoke also said that the PDP will sweep all Local Governments in the state. I don't think this will be possible, especially in the central part of the state. Recall that even though Imoke is from Abi LGA, PDP could not win the House of Representation presently occupied by Alex Egbona. Local Governments like Abi and Yakurr will be very hard for the PDP to win. So I think Imoke was not right in saying all the LGAs will be swept by the PDP.
