The ongoin battle between the various schools SUG president and the Arakurin Akeredolu administration is no longer news. Matters between them were even escalated after the Aketi Student Support group, a group singled out harmonize and strategies for students support for the governors re-election bid had a serious clash with OAUSTECH(OSUSTECH) students.

In the same vain, The president of each school union has come out to deny the rumours of endorsements and support for the governors re-election in the forthcoming election in the state.

However, Only two of the three tertiary institutions had released a broadcast earlier before now, namely, Adeyemi College of Education Ondo and Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology Okitipupa, while there were lots of calm and silence from Adekunle Ajasin University. The climax of the purported endorsements was that, he, the SUG president of Adekunle Ajasin University had led others to meeting, were the endorsements took place.

But he has, however, finally, released a broadcast denying the alleged and purported endorsements. The union president of Adekunle Ajasin University, the purported leader of the student union presidents visit to the governor has dissociated himself and his school from the alleged memo released by Gideon Olabisi.

In the meantime, Gideon had earlier released a memo, backing it with a video of a meeting between the entire student union presidents of all schools in Ondo State, where, in the meeting he claimed they assured the governor, Arakurin Akeredolu of their support in his re-election bid. According to Gideon, “ OLUWASEGUN,while acknowledge the developmental strides of the Arakurin Akeredolu administration in the various schools, noted that “While speaking during their visit to the Governor recently, Oluwasegun noted that they are aware of the activities of the Governor and they are grateful for his monumental development in all sectors”.

But in his press released this morning, Oluwasegun dismissed the group's memo and video as an illusion. In his broadcast this message, he said “ an illegal and unregistered group known as AKETI STUDENTS SUPPORT GROUP (ASSG) led by one Akeredolu Emmanuel, one of it which was a purported declaration of support for His Excellency Arakunrin Akeredolu within the university premises.

This same group has also engaged themselves in tarnishing the image of the union with false stories and cropped video of the union supporting their selfish ambition and candidate. We hereby show our disapproval and stresses our stance in protecting the interests of the Students.

In respect, the development is unacceptable as it is against the Students Welfare which we stand for in apropos to the Section 8 Sub-Section 2b which states “The Welfare and Well being of the Students shall be the primary purpose for the Unions existence”. We, therefore, as a matter of importance and urgency, publicly dissociate ourselves from this political group, as we are not affiliated with and to any and also condemn this action been taken by the members of ASSG team for we expect them to portray a good behaviour always as they would be seen as ambassadors to their aspirant.

It is at this juncture that we call the ASSG to order to stop their animalistic, irresponsible, stupid, silly and childish attitude as we make it bold that further propaganda, harassment, intimidation, blackmailing will be seen as a breach of Student's Welfare which wouldn’t be tolerated.

Hiherto, Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko is never a political ground for any individual, association or group to jump in without following due process because we believe the interests of the entire students populace comes first and we will defend it to any level”.

An earlier press release separately, by two schools president, namely; Adeyemi College of Education Ondo and Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology Okitipupa has also dissociated themselves from the purported endorsements of the Oluwarotimi Akeredolu re-election bid claiming all the ever wanted is “a reduction in their school fees and electricity on their campus”.
