The independent national electoral commission (INEC) have fixed March 20 for the Ekiti East State Constituency 1 of Ekiti State. This date was fixed so as to find a representative who will replace the vacant.

Since the death of Adegbuyi Amos , a member representing the state constituency, the position was vacant because of his death and since then the office has not been functioning, because of this a declaration was made by the INEC chairman at Abuja who fixed the date for the election replacement of the position.
The access code for the nomination forms shall be available for collection from February 26 at the commission ’s headquarters.
It was said that the political parties will have to conduct their primaries starting from February 26 till March 26 which the final day for submission will be on the match 8.
INEC also warn the political parties involved that any party that presents to the Commission the name of a candidate who does not meet the qualifications will pay afine of five hundred thousand naira (#500,000).
