A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aremo Olusegun Osoba marked his 81st birthday on Wednesday, July 15, 2020.
Osoba became the governor of Ogun State in 1999 under the platform of the Alliance for Democracy (AD).
The former governor was a founder member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
On his birthday yesterday, many people within and outside Ogun State sent him best wishes to celebrate the octogenarian.
Top on the list was the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, who described Chief Osoba as a man with wealth of experience and exemplary leadership skills.
Recall that Osoba was instrumental to how Gov Abiodun clinched the governorship often the APC as he supported him to eventually become the governor.
On two occasions, he single-handedly took Dapo Abiodun to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Villa so as to present him as the candidate of the APC in Ogun State.
Aside from Abiodun, it was expected that President Buhari would also send greetings to Osoba, but that did not happen on Wednesday.
It was remembered that the President greeted Osoba last year on his 80th birthday, making people to wonder what could have happened.
As for former Governor Ibikunle Amosun, no one would have expected him to greet Osoba, considering the political differences between them, especially as it has to do with the 2019 governorship election in Ogun State.
However, one could not understand why the National Leader of the APC, Chief Bola Tinubu also refused to greet Osoba on his birthday.
There was no statement from the former Lagos State Governor to celebrate Osoba on his birthday.
Tinubu and Osoba have been close friends from time immemorial. They both became governors in 1999 under the platform of the AD.
It will be recalled that many dignitaries celebrated Osoba last year when he clocked 80.
Meanwhile, the likes of Babafemi Ojudu, , Senator Olamilekan Adeola, Prince Gboyega Isiaka, Senator Gbenga Obadara and many others rejoiced with the octogenarian, a journalist turned politician.
