Governor Obaseki demolishes house of the immediate paste deputy governor in Benin city

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State, on Tuesday evening ordered the demolition of a building belonging to the immediate past deputy governor of the state, Dr. Pius Odubu.

The building was said to be occupied by the deputy governor's younger brother and his family at the time it was demolished.

Buildings also destroyed same day includes, an uncompleted building belonging to former secretary to the state government (SSG), Prof. Julius Ihonvbere and a property belonging to incumbent member representing Owan federal constituency, Mike Etemuagbo.

Reacting to the destruction, Odubu described it as unfortunate, said the matter was already before the court.

The ex-deputy governor said that, before now, my attention was brought to the publication in the observer newspaper in January that my certificate of occupancy (COC) of my property have been revoke without prior notice given to me.

"I went to the court in the matter, and I am surprised that after that have served, the government still went ahead and to bring down my house with bulldozer.

My younger one was in the house when it was brought down, and they did not give them notice nor allow them to remove any of their properties before destroying the place", he said.
