The former political leader of the state and former Senate President, Bukola Saraki of the Peoples Democratic Party will also be fighting to regain his political relevance in the State and return as Kwara political godfather.
As a result of this, there are strong indications that Saraki may bring the 2019 PDP governorship candidate, Razak Atunwa, to wrestle power from the incumbent Governor, AbdulRazaq in 2023.

Recall that Kwara was under the control of PDP before the 2019 governorship election when the otege movement ended Saraki and PDP's influence in Kwara State.
Available indicators showed that the former Senate President may bring back Atunwa to defeat AbdulRazag in 2023 because of two important reasons.

Saraki And PDP Will Fight Back To Win Kwara
One of the reasons why Saraki may bring back his 2019 anointed governorship candidate, Atunwa, to defeat the incumbent Governor of the State is the fact that Saraki and PDP will fight back to win Kwara State and the former governorship candidate appears to be the ideal politician that can wrestle power from the incumbent Governor of the State.

Saraki may likely fight back to return as the godfather of Kwara State after he lost the grip of the State through Otege movement in 2019. He will need Atunwa who also understands the nature of the state politics to achieve his aim in the 2023 governorship election.
Atunwa's Political Influence
The political influence of Atunwa in Kwara State is another major thing that may also convince Saraki to give him his support and bring him back to contest against the current Governor of the State in 2023.

As a former commissioner and a former lawmaker, he has been able to build a strong political network for himself in the State that would make it easy for him to wrestle power from the incumbent Governor in 2023.
