2023: NEF Spokesman Replies Man Who Said He Wants To Japa Because Politicians Bought Votes For $100

The spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), Dr Hakeem Baba Ahmed has tasked a 38 year old man not to give up believing and staying in Nigeria after the outcome of the 2023 presidential elections.

Recall that 'Japa' meaning 'to flee or run out of the country or a dangerous situation', had begun trending on social media platforms like TikTok and Twitter after the APC presidential flagbearer, Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the presidential polls in Nigeria through an electoral process which many have described as disappointing.

As it seems, this 38 year old man had a similar view, citing the alleged rigging of the election, and several other problems in the country as the reason wants to leave Nigeria. He wrote to the NEF spokesman, "How Baba? If we can sell our vote for as little as $100? I am 38 and have never experienced good leadership, steady power supply, or water? How? I give up sir. Trending on TikTok is “japa” videos. A country whose youths have given up."

Offering a word of hope, Dr Hakeem replied him thus, "Don't give up. "Japa" is doing for another country what you can do for yours."

Do you think leaving the country will solve our issues?
