There was jubilation among the Ibibio people under the auspices of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio at the palace of Ntisong Essien Ekidem in Uyo, last week Wednesday as Senator Aloysius Etok donates a parcel of land to the organization.
Speaking at the events, the former National Assembly Member for Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial Districts and Chairman Fortune Polytechnic, Senator Aloysius Etok who was represented by the Chapter head of the Organisation in Ikono, Ukai Emmanuel Ufon said the land donation is to assist the organization for their meeting venue.
He said Senator Etok as a true Son of Ibibio Nation and the ranking titleholder of Mkpisong in the land is fully committed to Ibibio projects towards the emancipation of his people.
According to him, "Over years, the Ikono Chapter of the organization has been looking up to a befitting venue for their meeting activities and the Senator out of his magnanimity decided to give the organization the venue", he said.
Speaking further, the Ukai of Ibibio Nation, described Senator Etok his Boss as a patriotic personality from the Cradle of the Ibibio Kingdom, a man of grace, goodwill and a silence giver who has so far empowered thousands of his people financially and through employments opportunities in his firm, including himself.
Responding, the Ntisong Ibibio, Ntisong Essien Ekidem expressed joy over the gift, saying that a date will be communicated back to the Senator for the presentation.
On his part, Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga applauded the move by Senator Etok saying that the 18-Chapter of the organization should be strengthened for the sake of unity, socio-economic and political understanding in Ibibio Nation.
He called on other stakeholders across the Chapters of Akwa Esop Imaisong Ibibio to borrow a leaf from Senator Etok.
Also Speaking, the former Chairman of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area, Mkpison Tony Okpon thanked Senator Etok for his good gesture towards the development of Ibibio Land, believing that the good Lord of Ibibio will reward him more abundantly, while calling on more rewarding opportunities for him in the land.
