As the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is fast approaching, The immediate past Governor of Nasarawa State who is also the Incumbent Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District, Umaru Tanko Al-makura on Monday declared his intention to contest for the APC National Chairmanship Position.

He made the announcement in Lafia, the Capital City of Nasarawa State during the Grand Finale of the Campaign for All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairmanship Candidates in the forthcoming Local Government Poll in the State. The Ex-Governor assured party Members that if elected, he 'll ensure there is Equity, Justice, Fairness and that New Members are given a level playing field.
Following his declaration of interest in the Top Position, Al-makura 'll contest against his fellow Ex-Governors from Zamfara, Borno and Benue States; Abdulaziz Yari, Ali Modu Sheriff and George Akume.The 69years-old Al-makura has been in active politics since 1980, he began his political career as the Youth Leader of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN). He belongs to the CPC bloc of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
