Yobe Governor Mai Mala Buni has authorized a slight cabinet move and announced the establishment of a new Ministry of Wealth Creation, Empowerment, and Employment Generation.
This is according to a statement issued on Friday in Damaturu by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Baba Wali.
According to him, the new ministry will be led by Alhaji Abdullahi Bego, Commissioner for Home Affairs, Information, and Culture.
Alhaji Mohammad Lamin, the Commissioner for Land and Solid Minerals, has been transferred to the Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, according to the announcement.
The governor had also approved the subsumption of the Ministry of Land's activities under the Yobe Geographic Information System (YOGIS), a newly constituted body, according to the statement.
"The governor has delegated to YOGIS the responsibility for land administration and management, including issues connected to land allocation title registration, usage, searches, charting, cadastral, planning, and other obligations as specified by the governor."
"The Ministry of Land and Solid Minerals ceases to exist with the signing of the Law to provide for the foundation of YOGIS," the statement read.
