3 Igbo leaders that may run for President in 2023 if APC zones their ticket to the southeast

The demands for an Igbo man to emerge as the next President of Nigeria have continued to dominate political debates in Nigeria, going into the 2023 presidential election.

Despite the North's rejection of this demand on the basis that only through elections can the next Nigerian President be determined, the possibilities of an Igbo presidency may yet be realized, if the ruling party, All Progressive Congress APC decides to zone their presidential ticket to the southeast region of Nigeria.

Taking this into consideration, we have in this article, highlighted 3 Igbo politicians that may be in the running for the presidency, if their party, APC, zones its ticket to the southeast:

1. Senator Rochas Okorocha:

Rochas Okorocha is a name that has been in the book of Nigerian politics for over two decades. The former governor of Imo State and current Senator representing the people of Imo West in the Red Chambers has not hidden his desire to become Nigeria's President, right from his days in ANPP, in 2003.

His journey in Nigerian Politics that has seen him being a member of the PDP, ANPP, AA, APGA, and now APC, will give him the needed experience to vie for the most powerful seat in Nigeria come 2023.

2. Governor Dave Umahi:

The current Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, has hinted in the past that the reason he dumped PDP to join the All Progressive Congress APC, was because he wanted the Igbos to have a chance of producing Nigeria's next President.

While he has not expressly declared his ambition to run in 2023, it will not come as a surprise if he picks up his nomination form in 2023, if APC zones its ticket to the southeast.

3. Governor Hope Uzodimma:

Although Hope Uzodimma's emergence as Imo governor came after the Supreme Court ruling in his favor, he has shown that he knows the game of politics and can make things happen, against the expectations of his political detractors.

The visit of President Muhammadu Buhari to Imo State has also shown that Hope Uzodimma has a healthy relationship with President Muhammadu Buhari. Therefore, if APC zones its ticket to the southeast, Hope Uzodimma may be looking to explore his chances in Aso rock, come 2023.
