A lot of activities are going on in the opposition People's Democratic Party, PDP as the party prepares for its October national convention that will take place less than 6 weeks from now.
The organising committee headed by Governor Fintiri of Adamawa State and the zoning committee headed by Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State are working hard to ensure that the national convention of the PDP is successful.

However, the PDP has come up with a new idea which is to amend the constitution of the party during the convention of the PDP according to Vanguard newspaper.
This amendment will take place in the absence of the suspended national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus.
Also Governor Nyesom Wike whose face-off with Secondus has created crisis in PDP is heading the committee on Special Duties the party set up ahead of the October 30 national convention of the PDP.

How does the PDP plan to amend its constitution in the absence of Uche Secondus?
The party has set up a constitution amendment committee headed by Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State.
This committee will recommend some provisions of the party's constitution that should be amended. However, the party refused to reveal the terms of reference of this committee which has a deadline to report to the party.
One may wonder why PDP will want to amend its constitution in the absence of its suspended national chairman who is in court to enforce his right and also for the court to restore him as PDP national convention.
I have this feeling that PDP may amend this section of the party's constitution that empowers only the NEC to remove the National Chairman of the party.
Those who follow the court case filed by Secondus will agree with me that he is relying on that provision to ask the appeal court to restore him as the National Chairman of the because it was not the NEC that removed him.

The PDP may have envisaged how things will play out if Secondus gets a favourable judgment at the appeal court and Supreme Court hence the need to amend its constitution.
This is why David Mark has appealed to Wike many times to withdraw his court case against Secondus and opt for out of court settlement.
