Drinking Alcohol Or Wine Is Not A Sin, Jesus Had Alcohol – Reno Omokri Speaks With Biblical References
The humanitarian award winner, a bible scholar and a free Sharibu activist has taken to his twitter account to condemn does who condemn the consumption of alcoholic drinks and wines. Reno stands his ground to his believes with biblical references, stating that Jesus Christ drank alcohol.
Reno Omokri, a former special aide to former president Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, always writing against the administration of General Mohammadu Buhari, took to his twitter handle to break the camel’s back.
With his close to a million followers on twitter, Reno stated that the Bible never stated that drinking alcohol or wine was a sin, he added that Jesus himself turned water into an alcoholic wine in a wedding feast, many drank the wine and attested to the fact that it was alcoholic.
Reno in his defense made reference to the book of Matthew 11:19 which says,
“The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.”
This verse will be understood better if you read from 16-19, and it is explained as thus;
It means Jesus came and you didn't recognize him, all they said was he was a drunkard that drank with tax collectors, John who baptised him they said he had demons, so as the child in the market, he played a flute, you didn't dance, no one saw him or acknowledged him just as they did with Jesus.
In his tweet, Reno Omokri wrote;
“Drinking wine or alcohol is not sinful. But drunkenness is sinful. ANYTHING done in excess, is sinful. Some quote Proverbs 31:4 and say kings should not drink. Which king is greater than Christ, the King of kings? Christ drank wine (Matthew 11:19)”
He also warned that people who wrongly quote the book of Proverbs 31:4 should desist from the act, he said that Jesus who was and is the greatest king drank alcohol.
The book of Proverbs 31:4 reads; It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink:
Is this portion of the bible not contradictory to what reno Omokri is teaching on twitter?
According to his teaching, Jesus Christ drank strong drink, Christ drank alcohol and wine, therefore there is nobody that is exempted from drinking wine or strong drink, but do not get drunk.
