2 Statements That Ohanaeze Said About Zoning Of President That The Northerners May Not Agree With.

The zoning of the presidency has long been a source of contention between the south and the north region of Nigeria, in which many southern politicians believe that their region deserves to rule Nigeria in 2023 rather than the north for equity to reign.

Furthermore, according to the outcome of the Northern Governors' meeting yesterday, they vehemently opposed the proposal to shift the presidency to the south in the coming election.

However, a few minutes after the decision of the northern governors went viral, the spokesperson for Ohanaeze was speaking to the newsmen.

According to the Sahara Reporters, he made these two statements about the presidency that I surely believe that many northerners may not agree with.

Despite the fact that the North has produced ten Nigerian presidents, it remains underdeveloped.

Ohanaeze makes it known that, despite the fact that the North has ruled Nigeria more than the south, it remains undeveloped with high insecurity and unemployment rates.

However, this statement may not go down well with the Northerners, as they may kick against it anytime soon.

We need to recall that the spokesperson of the northern elder's forum, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, made it known some days ago that the North truly may not have a giant economy or development, but they do have a giant population to win the first class position, and they will start developing their region after they regain power in 2023.

Not only that, the kind of system we are practicing in Nigeria didn't stop the North from producing more presidents. As we all know, democracy is a game.

Jonathan easily handed over the presidency to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

Ohanaeze claimed that the former president, Goodluck Jonathan, respected the zoning agreement between the South and the North as he easily handed the presidency to Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

This statement may not go down well with many Northerners because we all know that Goodluck Jonathan wanted to rule Nigeria once again before he was defeated.

Not only that, but since 1999, that we have jumped into a new constitution. The southerners have ruled for 14 years, while the northerners will just complete their 10 years in 2023.
