On Thursday, the former Governor of Abia State, Senator Theodore Orji was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 10 am and taken to the headquarters of EFCC at Jabi, Abuja, for the continuation of his interrogation.

According to sources, Orji has been on the EFCC watch list for a while now over alleged mismanagement of public funds while he was governor.
It was gathered that the ex-governor is alleged to have collected 500 Million Naira monthly as a security vote for eight years as governor of Abia State between 2007 and 2015.
Below are three things Orji would have done to avoid his recent arrest.
1. If Orji had abided by the bail conditions given to him by the commission, he wouldn't have been arrested.
2. If Orji had returned his international passport to the commission as ordered by the agency, maybe he wouldn't have been arrested.
3. Before the commission placed him on their watch list, they had invited him on several occasions for questioning, but he always declined to turn himself in each time he was invited. Maybe if he made himself available no one would be trailing him.
Orji is an honorable man and knows the rule of the law and the way the EFCC works, so he is supposed to make himself available each time he is called to prove that he is not guilty. His arrest has also raised concern from the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders (COSEYL) who claimed that the arrest is an insult to the Igbo community. But one would not blame the EFCC for arresting him because he had all the opportunities to abate this harassment and continue his daily activities, but he refused.
