Ahead of his inauguration as Nigeria's President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has pledged to make difficult decisions that will improve the country and its citizens. He made this commitment in a message he released to commemorate the 2023 Workers' Day on Monday, according to reports from PUNCH.

Tinubu called on the people to support his upcoming government in tackling common issues such as conflict, ignorance, disease, poverty, and ethnic and religious hatred. He acknowledged that these problems have been plaguing the country and hampering its development.
As Nigeria struggles with a struggling economy, high unemployment, and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has called for the retirement age of civil servants to be raised to 65 years and the length of service to be extended to 40 years. Tinubu's pledge to make difficult decisions and implement reforms that benefit the country and its workforce is a promising start to his presidency.
