She has a master in creative writing in the year 2012 from bath spa University of United Kingdom.

Yasmin El-Rufai who is daughter of El-Rufai died in November in the year 2011, she was found dead in the bath at
her Belvedere Heights home on the 27th of November in the year 2011.
A non profit organization was launched to honor the death of her daughter Yasmin who died of an epileptic seizure in her flat in London.
Hadiza El Rufai and her husband Nasir El-Rufai set up Yasmin El-Rufai foundation (YELF) in the year 2013 with the aims of nurturing creativity in children, "particularly the girl child.
According to her the foundation was also built to provide resources with teachers and book that they need to enhance their literacy. And also for philanthropic purposes to benefit the less privileged, donating drugs to sickle cell patients in Kaduna.
During the launch of the foundation in Kaduna the governor broke down in tears while describing his late daughter, he said she was a wonderful child, who had passion for the less privileged in the society.
