Mr Akpabio sexual harassment allegation: will his statements convinces the masses?

Mr Akpabio who was appointed Honorable Commissioner for Petroleum and Natural Resources by the then Governor Obong Victor Attah in Akwa Ibom State. Between 2002 and 2006, Mr. Akpabio who served as a Commissioner in three key ministries: Petroleum and Natural Resources, Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, as well as Lands and Housing, Mr Akpabio who was the Governor of Akwa Ibom State from 2006 to 2014, Mrs Akpabio who contested and won the Senate seat of the Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial District (Ikot Ekpene) to represent the district in the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigerian and  Mr Akpabio who was nominated by President Muhammadu buhari In July 2019 and screened by the Nigerian Senate for a Ministerial appointment, has been face with sexual harassment allegation

His describe the allegation has false, Akpabio spoke through a statement signed and made available by Anietie Ekong, his Special Adviser on Media.

 If we can recall Mrs. Nunieh had accused the former Governor of sexual and workplace harassments, pipelines bombings, secret cult activities, abuse of office, amongst others.

The Minister said he decided to react to the allegations especially on the one bothering on sexual harassment.

“The Honourable Minister did not at any time, place or circumstance make any form of sexual advances to Mrs. NuniehNunieh, or any female staff of his Ministry

Akpabio went on to remind his accusers Mrs. Nunieh, that he is happily married and content with his wife.

He also said that he has appointed several women into various high-level positions as a public office holder.

1.   appointed a woman as “Chairpersons of Local Government Councils, Magistrates, Judges, Heads of  Parastatals, Directors, Permanent Secretaries, and Commissioners

2.   First Governor in Akwa Ibom State to have a female Deputy.

3.   The Minister said he was also the first to appoint female Chief Justices of the High Court, recommended women for ministerial appointments one of whom was the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, and supported for an appointment the first female Vice-Chancellor of the only Federal University in the State etc.

He said he has always championed and still champions the cause of women and young children.”

Looking that Mr Akpabio is blessed with four children, all of whom are four young women.
