Governor Wike imposes total lockdown on a community and LGA. Check if your own is among

In a bit to wage war against the spread of the deadly pandemic. Gov.Wike has engaged in several srategies. His reason being that he wants to forestall humanitarian crises that may arise from the pademic if not curbed.

However going by the increase in people testing positive in two communities, Bonny LG and Onne community in Eleme LGA all in Rivers state, Gov Wike has declared that those places should be under total lockdown effective from 21st June 2020. This excludes essential workers who can only move with only permission. He made this known in his state wide broadcast.

He enjoined the security operatives to ensure that the order is adhered to. He also mentioned a state wide broadcast was imminent if the spread of corona virus increases.

Here are his words, "Persuant to the fundamental objective of stopping the spread of covid19, we have reviewed the situation of Bonny island and Onne community and come to the conclusion that a total lockdown is necessary to curtail the spread of the virus in the communities. By this measure all shops, offices and business places must remain closed. All gatherings are prohibited. All exit an entry into the two communities except those on essential services and duly permitted are also banned. Security agencies have been directed to enforce the lockdown by arresting and persecuting anyone who dares to disobey these directives".
