I specifically commiserate with the people of Edo state, particularly the Etsako people, over the passing on to glory of our illustrious son, Hon. (Barr.) Zakawanu Garuba, a former speaker of Edo State House of Assembly, under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), while also praying fervently for the swift release of his abducted wife and other family members, who were on their way to attend the funeral in Auchi, his ancestral home.

In what appears like a Bollywood movie last night, few hours after the internment of our illustrious son, with an uneasy calm, feeling of cold sensation and the entire Etsako thrown into mourning, the recently suspended National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress ( APC), Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, arrived into Auchi with a crowd last night.
One would have expected Oshiomhole to commiserate with the Auchi sacred kingdom, by visiting the monarch and the immediate family of the deceased, and not converging a political gathering in the heart of the local government at such an unholy hour, blaring sirens, with gunshots renting the air at this our moment of grief.
His dancing and some other very vulgar utterances of inciting the gathering not to be scared of anybody as we journey into another campaign period is indeed an act unbecoming of a supposed illustrious son of Etsako who is bereaved of his brother. This is indeed a disrespect to the culture and tradition of Etsako land.Adams
We are all students of history as we understand the intrigues surrounding oshiomhole's unbecoming conduct and show of disrespect last night, as it is not unconnected with the attempted impeachment of Oshiomhole over allegations of misappropriation, over-invoicing of contracts sum, highhandedness and gross abuse of office, particularly with regards to the Auchi gully erosion project by the world bank, whose contract sum was allegedly inflated from behind the door by well over 25 billion naira.
In a bid to avert the impeachment process since the panel of enquiry had already done it's findings and indicted Oshiomhole with a recommendation of impeachment, Hon. Philip Shaibu waded in through unorthodox manner, to save his brother, wherein he almost lost his life.
The same Oshiomhole is now asking for Shaibu's head, while openly celebrating the demise of our illustrious son in this our moment of grief, when the executive governor of Edo state and his deputy have directed the Edo state police command to launch a manhunt on the abductors of Mrs. Zakawanu and other family members with a view to ensuring their immediate release.
In the words of late Chuba Okadigbo, “ If You are emotionally attached to your tribe, religion or political leaning, to the point that truth and justice become secondary considerations, your education is useless, your exposure is useless. If you cannot reason beyond petty sentiments, you are a liability to mankind"
Oshiomhole should be reminded of the inevitability of death as only God is immortal, while I call on various stakeholders in the traditional institutions and the security agencies, to prevail on Oshiomhole with a view to stemming the tide of a possible reprisal disposition by those who actually understand his mockery and ridiculing of the entire Etsako people at this our moment of grief.
