This is a throwback picture of Bishop Oyedepo casting his vote at his polling unit during the 2015 presidential election between the candidate of the APC (Muhammadu Buhari) and PDP (Goodluck Jonathan)


Democracy has made it important for all citizens to elect their representatives into different political offices through direct elections or otherwise.


Since Nigeria begin the practice of democratic system since 1999, there has been series if presidential, gubernatorial, senatorial and other types of elections that had taken place and the purpose of all these if for the respective citizens to exercise their governing power and elect their desired candidates into different political offices.


The Nigeria constitution provides 4 years for every elected candidate in office and a maximum of 8 years if re-elected into office. At the end of the fourth year, the body in charge of electoral process (INEC) independent national electoral commission creates a platform where people vote for respective candidates of their choice.  Also, the Nigerian system recognizes a multi party system therefore , there is always the presence of more than 2 parties in every election.


However In 2015, many Nigerians witnessed the end and the beginning of a new government after the administration of Jonathan (PDP) lost to Muhammadu Buhari of the APC.
