As the 2023 Elections is drawing near, the clamor for power shift to the South is becoming loud but Northerners are kicking against it as they said nobody can impose the choice of President on them. There have been speculations over the media that PDP wants to choose their Presidential candidate from the North. This means if PDP chose their Presidential candidate from the North, the South will lose chances of ruling the country come 2023 thereby giving room for power to still perpetuate in the North. If APC happens to zone their presidency to the South East, it will give them more chances to win and gain popularity in the South East than PDP.
According to a report on Independent Newspaper online, the Former House of Representatives member and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Hon. Victor Afam Ogene has called upon the people of the Southeast region to wholly accept APC now, or risk losing out in the 2023 election Presidential Elections. He claimed that PDP might zone their Presidency to the North which will deprive the South East of the opportunity of taking over power in 2023.
In a statement personally signed by him on Monday, September 20, 2021, in Abuja, Hon. Afam said that the forthcoming November 6, 2021, Anambra governorship election has afforded the region an ample opportunity to embrace APC who has made giant strides in the growth and development of the country. He said that President Buhari's administration has completed some abandoned projects in the South East ranging from roads construction, Second Niger Bridge and Seaports and needs to be supported by South Easterners for him to continue with his good work in fostering national unity.
