The State Speaker of the Party, Alex Kalejaye, has stated to SUNSHINETRUTH that the primaries will take place in all 18 local government areas in the state. It is in preparation for the October 10 governorship elections. The party's chairman and the state governor of Kogi, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, said that the indirect primary mode would be adopted to select the flag bearer of the APC.
The party's flag bearer is supposed to emerge from the 12 candidates at the end of the exercise. Approximately 2,500 party members and chieftains will participate in the party's primary election.There are 12 governorship candidates who will be slow for the APC ticket to the October 10 election.
Kalejaiye said that no less than 2,500 delegates will participate in the Primary. He said, "There would be 12 delegates from each of the 203 offices, 72 from the State Executive. We have local government delegates. "We have the Assembly House and the National Assembly as mandatory delegates. We also have special delegates, "said Kalejaye.
The winners of the ticket include the incumbent governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, Mrs. Jumoke Ajasin-Anifowose, Hon Isaacs Kekemeke, Chief Olayide Adelami, Chief Olusola Oke (SAN) and Ambassador Olusola Iji. Others include: Dr. Segun Abraham, Prince Jimi Odimayo, Chief Bukola Adetula, Mr. Ifeoluwa Oyedele, Mr. Akinsehinde-Awodeyi and Dr. Nathaniel Adojutelegan.
