Why do young people take BBNaija more seriously than the government?- Ruggedman

Michael Ugochukwu Stephens, popularly known as Ruggedman, a Nigerian rapper, singer-songwriter, and social activist, has revealed why many Nigerian youths will continue to dismiss the government.

According to him, reality shows like Big Brother Naija will be taken seriously by young people because they have more to offer than the Nigerian government.

In an interview in the news,  Ruggedman also stated that the government is still in denial about the killings and shootings of peaceful protesters at Lekki Tollgate in Lagos State in October 2020.

"I believe the only reason Nigerian youths are so interested in BBN is because of the transparency." It's also because they understand how important their votes are. They also understand that, in the end, the organizers keep their promises. "That's why people are so serious about it," he explained.

"Can you say the same about Nigeria's government?" As a result, I believe the Nigerian government has a lot to prove to the people, including transparency, competence, living up to expectations, and fulfilling promises made. The Nigerian government must regain the trust of the people, particularly the youth.

"We're still trying to figure out who shot at protesters at the toll gate in 2020." We haven't heard anything about the incident a year later.

Before the youths will trust the government, there is a slew of issues the government must address," he added.
