Credit must go to the modern Ogun State achitect , Senator Ibikunle Amosu as he had transformed the state infrastructures than what he met on ground most especially the transformation he gave to Abeokuta the Ogun State capital.
Since the creation of Ogun state , Abeokuta have been a glorified capital without any infrastructure to show for it. All the road network are just a single lane road but with the coming on board of Senator Ibikunle Amosu a great change were brought to the capital city.
With series of road project across the length and breadth of the state and overhead bridge's to support where necessary, the state can now compete favourably with her equals.
Despite his efforts at Infrastructural development across the state , it must be categorically stated that the number of projects embarked upon by Ibikunle Amosu was too much to be completed by the time is Administration will be winding off though, Government should be a continuous process but the Nigeria context of continuity is nothing to write home about .
Among such of this project is the ita-elega fly over bridge in Abeokuta North Local government area which is a death trap to all motorist who ply on this bridge. Since the contractors handling the Project have left the sight, the level of work done on the bridge as well as all the adjoining roads have been abandoned thereby leaving residents of the area and all other commuters to ply on the road that can not be said to be in an Urban area.
Due to the bad state of the road , Government were forced to open the bridge tentatively in order to ease the hardship been encountered on the road . It must be noted that as good as the intention of the Government is to alleviate the suffering of the people, it must be pointed out that the bridge is a death trap to motorist not that the quality of the bridge is low, the problem is that , some necessary infrastructures to be installed on the bridge for smooth passage is lacking and in the efforts of the Government to open up the bridge a pallative approach was employed.
The joint expansion that normally joins the bridge together to allow for an expansion of the bridge when the humidity is high due to the asphalt that has been put on any completed bridge has not been fixed since the bridge is yet to be fully completed but Instead of this joint expansion , granite stones was used instead to allow vehincles to have a smooth ride but this approach is very deadly because the iron that were used in casting the bridge are conspicuously showing under the granite.
The implication of this is that motorist that ply on this bridge risk losing their tyres which can lead to accident if the bridge is not carefully drives upon.
An appeal to Governor Dapo Abiodun to kindly remobilize the contractors handling this project back to sight in other to fast track the completion of this project as well as all adjoining roads within this axis which includes ; Mokola - Ago ika road, Mokala - Ikereku road, Ilugun -Mokola road , Iberekodo - Mokola under bridge, Iberekodo -Mokola round about and Saje elega road leading to the fly over bridge.
