What Uzodinma Means By APC Is Not Looking For An Igbo President In 2023

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, there are a lot of speculations on where President Muhammadu Buhari's successor will come from.

Politicians from Southern Nigeria have already called on their counterparts from the north to allow the south to produce the next President of the country.

Recall that the Southern Governors' Forum during its last meeting held in Lagos State pledged support for zoning to allow the South to produce the next President of Nigeria.

Many politicians from the Southeast had also called on the politicians from the other part of the country to allow the region to produce the next President of Nigeria.

They argued that the people of the Southeast have not produced the president of Nigeria since the return of democracy in 1999.

However, available indicators have shown that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, may not zone its presidential ticket to the southeast in 2023.

With the recent statement of Governor Hope Uzodinma, there are indications that the Governor might have gotten the hint of the region where his party will zone its presidential ticket to. As a Governor and chieftain of the ruling party, it's difficult for the Imo State Governor to make such claim without any hint from the party hierarchy.
