People react to the payment of €15.21m and 1.708billion naira by FG to German govt for power upgrade

Earlier this year, before the death of the former presidential Chief of staff, Abba Kyari, Mallam Abba Kyari, and the Minister of Power, Mr. Saleh Mamman, met with Siemens officials in Germany in furtherance of the deal that was signed by the president and the energy company on improving electricity supply in the country.

It was learnt that the duo, joined by the Nigerian Ambassador to Germany, Mr. Yusuf Tuggar, were in Europe to fine-tune the details of the agreement, the process of which started two years ago when Buhari met with German Chancellor, Angela Merkel.

However, the Federal Government announced the approval of payment on her social media page in evening of July 29, 2020.

The Federal Executive Council today approved payment of €15.21m and N1.708 billion towards the counterpart funding for the Presidential Power Initiative, a power upgrade and modernization program between Nigeria Government and Siemens AG of Germany, with the support of the German Govt.
