IMO 2019 Election: The Legal Battle and The Total victory For Hope Uzodimma ( Opinion )
On January 14 2020 the Supreme Court nullified Emeka Ihedioha election Victory and announced Hope Uzodimma as the duly elected Governor of IMO state.
Following the review of the judgment on March, the Supreme Court also affirmed its judgment.
4months after the judgement, a political party known as RAP have approached the Court questioning the APC primary election that produced Gov. Hope Uzodimma as the candidate of the ruling party.
The party seek the court interpretation on who is the rightful candidate for the APC.
There are speculations that the court will sack Hope Uzodimma hammering on the fact that he is not the rightful winner of the APC 2019 primary election in IMO State.
But the situation won't go that way. Hope Uzodimma is on the safer side no matter how the judgement is swing.
Note, the APC have two primaries election results for the 2019 governorship election
The party was polarised into two antagonistic camps Rochas Camp and Hope Uzodimma camp.
The first primary election result signed by the Returning Officer of the election committee, Ahmed Ali Gulak declared Hope Uzodimma winner of the election while Prince Eze Madumere came 2nd.
The second result signed by Brigadier General Ibrahim Agbabiaka declared Uche Nwosu winner of the primary election while his arch rival, Senator Hope Uzodinma the current governor of IMO state came 2nd and the former deputy came 3rd Prince Eze Madumere.
Also note the court disqualified Uche Nwosu base on double candidacy of being AA candidate and APC candidate.
If the Court should uphold the result announced by Ahmed Ali Gulak, Hope Uzodimma remains the Governor of IMO state , if the court also upholds the result of General Ibrahim, By the order of the court, disqualifying Uche Nwosu, Hope Uzodimma coming 2nd in that election automatically becomes the rightful candidate of the APC.
That is to say the application filed by RAP holds no water unless the court said otherwise.
If anything contrary happens, then Prince Eze Madumere the former deputy governor of IMO state who came 2nd and 3rd in the both primaries respectively will become the next Governor of IMO State.
