In a report by the news media on Saturday, it was revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered that a total sum of 102 Biafran soldiers be pardoned, and gratuities be paid to them. This plan was earlier revealed by the Nigeria's minister of defence, major General Bashir Magashi (retd) on Friday. He revealed this at the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance day held in Abuja. We can learn two valuable lessons from initiative from president Muhammadu Buhari.
1. This initiative by president Muhammadu Buhari is a prove that he has the best interest at heart for the Igbo's, unlike the statement made by the popular Nigerian Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu.In his statement after he was released both by the Nigerian Army and the DSS, the Nollywood actor stated that the present Government has done nothing good for the Igbos. This statement made by the veteran actor is indeed a false one, as the president has done so many good things for the Igbo, which this present initiative is a prove of that.2. The pardoning and the payment of the Gratuities to the Biafran soldiers is a very kind gesture from the president, and it shows that his administration is geared towards improving the lives of every Nigerian, despite the persons ethnic group or tribe.OPINION BY GRANTENZY.
