Usually airports are usually safe as they are the name of entry and exit from a country or state and as a result the security awareness in such environment. Millions of people use the airport for their day to day activities or business. In a report by the Daily Trust, The Federal Government has alerted the security forces of several airports about planned attacks which could be carried out by criminals.
Attacks on airports although rare, can lead to loss of lives and property. The Federal Government has alerted the Federal Airports Authority Of Nigeria (FAAN) about the planned attacks and has adviced them to upgrade their security prowess.
In a new memo issued by the Deputy General Manager in charge of the FAAN Administration and Logistics adviced the airports in Kano, Lagos, Sokoto, Abuja and Maiduguri to make sure all security measure are in check in order to counteract the impending attacks.
He stated that airports in states like Kano and Lagos are on the top list of the criminals who are considering carrying out attacks at the airports which these states host. It is best for us to stay alert in times like this as it will be very devastating if such attacks ever get carried out.
Also, if you ever at the airports mentioned by the Deputy General Manager, it is best you keep an eye out for suspicious activities around you and make sure you report your findings to the security forces at the airport. In a time like this, if Nigerian airports are attacked, it will be a huge loss for the nation. What do you think about this announcement? What extra measures can the government and citizens put in place to result in heightened security in the airports?
