While the ruling party in the state, the Peoples Democratic Party is trying to maintain its dominance in the 2023 governorship election, the All Progressives Congress is also trying to win back the state in 2023.

Recall that APC was controlling Benue State before the incumbent Governor of the State, Samuel Ortom, decamped to PDP in July 2018.

However, the former Governor of the State and Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Senator George Akume, has stated that the All Progressives Congress will take over Benue State in the 2023 elections.

According to a report by Vanguard Newspaper, Akume, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress disclosed that his party is ready to take over Benue State in the 2023 elections after the party lost the grip of the state in 2018.

Why does Akume say APC will take over Benue State in 2023?

Akume believed that the successful conduct of the APC congress in Benue State without crisis is an indication that the All Progressives Congress is ready to take over power from the Peoples Democratic Party in Benue State in the 2023 elections.

Recall that APC held its state congresses on Saturday and the exercise was successful in Benue State. The party members in Benue overwhelmingly voted for Mr. Austin Agada and elected him as the APC Chairman in the State.

It is as a result of the success recorded in the exercise the former Governor of the State and Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, George Akume, believed the cooperation showed APC is ready to take over power from PDP in Benue State.
