Obaseki Speaks On Community Policing
Governor Godwin Obaseki has restated his administration’s commitment to partner with the police to ensure the success of community policing.
Obaseki stated this on Thursday in Benin while declaring open a one-day Community Policing Geo-Political Sensitisation Conference of the South-South geo-political zone.
The governor, represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu, said that the problem of Nigeria was building individuals, rather than institutions.
Ortom Commends Buhari
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his directive to security agents to shoot anyone illegally bearing AK47 rifle in the country.
The Governor who gave the commendation Thursday in Makurdi said the President’s order would reduce the level of criminality, banditry and militia herders’ attacks on Benue communities as well as in other parts of the country.
Buhari Gives Fresh Orders
President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered tight security at all the borders of the country.
Speaking at a virtual event to inaugurate the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) technology building in Kaduna on Thursday, Buhari said the service must work with international organisations to ensure that the borders are secured against criminal elements.
“As a security agency, I charge you to be relentless in carrying out your statutory duties of keeping our borders safe, while you ensure that criminal elements don’t find Nigeria as a safe haven to hide and perpetrate their criminality,” Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, quoted the Buhari as saying in a statement.
Joe Biden Promises To Support Nigeria
The United States have promised to support African Countries Economy and political independence in the face of undue foreign influence.
This is contained in the interim National Security Strategic Guidance released president Joe Biden's administration on Wednesday 3th of March, 2021.
People's Gazette reported that the document also expressed the Biden's administration's commitment to ending deadly conflicts in the continent while preventing new ones.
