The Chairman of the South West Governors' Forum and Governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, today described the late Afenifere chief, Senator Ayo Fasanmi, as a nationalist whose significant accomplishments will not be forgotten in a hurry.
The family statement in the early hours of Thursday confirmed the death of Pa Fasanmi, one of the lieutenants of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Fasanmi passed away at the age of 95. "Pa Fasanmi, one of the few people remaining, embodied dignity and exemplified atruism," Akeredolu said in a statement released by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation,
“Baba lives on because of his successful contributions and his proven ability to lead a nation. He left courage, planted devotion, and displayed an insatiable search for a peaceful, fair and democratic Nigeria."His thoughts filled with candor and palpable emotional connection to his people, the Yoruba Nation and Nigeria at large. These thoughts were genuinely Nigerian and mirrored in every way,.
“As the true son of the old State of Ondo, the governors of both States, and indeed all the governors of the South West, will begin talks with the immediate family to make this patriot a fitting interment, "the statement said.
