Although, the contest for who will pick the presidential ticket of the opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023, is still very open, there are some factors that may restrict many of the members of the party who might have been lobbying for the ticket to quit the contest.

However, whatever the political demands of the members and leadership of the main opposition party in Nigeria, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the course of picking the 2023 presidential candidate, there are two prominent members of the party who could, reliably, be considered to have higher chances of emerging as the presidential candidate of the party, in the 2023 presidential contest,

One, the chances of former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, to emerge as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023 could, actually, not be overemphasized.

Sincerely, for some reasons, former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar could be considered as one of the, most prominent, potential presidential candidates of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who can, reliably, give the ruling party, All Progressives Congress (APC), a good run in the 2023 presidential elections.

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar could be considered as one of the prominent members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who has, at least, reliable political structures across the six geopolitical zones of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The good political goodwill that former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, may have earned while serving as the vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria between 1999 and 2007 may, also, assist him to win the presidential ticket of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Considerably, if the northern members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) should, successfully, outsmart their southern counterparts in the course of picking the presidential ticket of the party in 2023, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar may, possibly, emerge as the most preferred candidate of the north for the position.

Secondly, the proximity of the Executive Governor of Rivers State, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, to become the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in 2023, could not be underestimated.

Governor Nyesom Wike's youthful age and his political popularity in the country may, considerably, assist him to pick the presidential ticket of the party in 2023. The goodwill he is earning as the Executive Governor of Rivers State may, also, work in his favor to emerge as the presidential candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 General Elections.
