Bello who was born June 18, 1975 in Agasa, Okene-Eba in Okene Local Government Area, is the last born of his late Mother, Hajia Hauwau.

Bello became Kogi State Governor in 2015 following the death of APC candidate in the election, Abubakar Audu, he was substituted and later won the subsequent rerun election against Captain Idris Wada.

After his victory at the rerun election, he emerged the youngest Governor in Nigeria at the age of 40 years. He won his reelection in November 16, 2019, in Kogi State governorship election.
