Governor Godwin Obaseki of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) continues to receive the supports of members crossing over from other parties in the state with Igbo Women Community in the state dumping the All Progressive Congress (APC) to embrace the PDP
Citing the fact that since the administration of Governor Obaseki, double and over-taxation by thugs in the state had been sopped a situation which was a norm in previous administrations.
It was gathered that the women led by Mrs Blessing Ahoruonye were received in Benin by the PDP State Women leader, Mrs Lindsay Sorea. Mrs Blessing Ahoruonye said that they were following the governor to the PDP in appreciation of the excellent work he is doing and as such they are offering him maximum support for his reelection.
The women leader in appreciation of the excellent work of the governor mentioned the impressive developmental stride been witnessed in the state as well as the economic expansion that has positively influenced the rate of consumption and his prudent management of resources.
Mrs Blessing Ahoruonye speaking on behalf of the group said that she believes that if another administration takes over the Edo state, then the state will return to the bad days of thuggery, brutal tax collectors and servicing of godfathers at the detriment of development and ease of doing business.
She therefore went on to say that they were giving their support to Governor Obaseki and the PDP noting that the opposition party has been immersed in corruption and as such they will not want the administration of the state to return to them.
On behalf of the PDP they were received by the PDP State Women leader, Mrs Lindsay Sorea who went ahead to appreciate them for their support and expressed confidence in the PDP’s victory in the September 19 governorship polls.
