2 things that might happen as Court decides on Secondus' case today to stop PDP convention

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has continued to linger despite the intervention of the party's stakeholders to settle the aggrieved members out of court.

The former Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, is currently waiting to see the outcome of his case at the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Hartcourt.

After Secondus was dragged to the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, the court had suspended him and stop him from parading himself as the National Chairman of the main opposition party on the ground that he cannot continue to act as the National Chairman of PDP after he was suspended as party member in his ward in Rivers State.

Secondus subsequently approached the Court of Appeal and seek an order of injunction to restrain PDP from holding its convention slated for October 30 and 31, 2021, or any other date pending the hearing and final determination of his appeal.

Scondus' main argument is that he was unlawfully removed from office by people who want to hijack the party from him because he supposed to leave office in December.

A report by PUNCH explained that the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt is now set to hear the appeal filed by Secondus today (Tuesday) and this has generated anxiety in the rank of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Despite the suit of the embattled former Chairman of the party to stop PDP from holding its National Convention, PDP has insisted that its convention will hold as scheduled.

However, two things might happen today as the Court of Appeal decides on Secondus appeal to stop PDP National Convention.

The Court Might Stop PDP From Holding Its Convention

One of the things that might happen is that the appellate court might stop the Peoples Democratic Party from holding its National Convention scheduled for October 30-31 pending the final hearing of Secondus' appeal challenging his removal from office.

Recall that Secondus wants the appellate court to give an order of injunction to stop PDP from holding its National Convention where a new National Chairman and other executives will emerge pending the final determination of his case challenging his removal from office.

Secondus supposed to leave office in December and he has opportunity to seek for second term in office. He insisted that his removal from office was against the constitution of PDP and remained the National Chairman of PDP.

Secondus Might Lose Out In The Fight To Stop PDP From Holding The National Convention

Another thing that might happen is that Uche Secondus might lose out the fight to stop PDP National Convention from taking place.

The appellate court might allow the Peoples Democratic to hold its National Convention while Secondus wait for the final hearing of his case challenging his removal from office.

The PDP has given its assurance that the National Convention of the party will hold as scheduled. The party's legal team knows the implication of Secondus case, but their assurance of winning the case for the party to hold its convention has given hope to many members of the party.
