Be productive, shun division - Taraba Emir charges subjects

On Wednesday, Alhaji Abbas Njida-Tafida, the Emir of Muri, advised the people of Taraba State to be active in order to avoid becoming beggars in society.

Njida-Tafida gave a speech during the Jalingo opening of the distribution of an emergency release of various food goods to the state's most needy citizens by the Minister of Transportation, Alhaji Mu'azu Sambo.

"We still owe more to ourselves. Food is not something we require. We must love ourselves and be productive.

We can take advantage of the vast resources that Taraba has to offer by exploring them. We won't accomplish anything by sitting down and having Sokoto-based vendors come to our homes and sell us water.

He urged his citizens, "regardless of religious or political differences, to band together and to toil diligently for the welfare of the state."

The worldwide food crisis brought on by COVID-19 and climate change, according to Minister of Transportation Mu'azu Sambo, prompted the federal government's emergency food intervention.

He instructed the distribution committee to maintain fairness and equity in the distribution of the food commodities and forbade the sale of the food commodities.
